Hepatitis A IgG

Clinical Background:

This is a serological assay used to detect IgG antibodies to hepatitis A virus (HAV).It is used to identify PAST hepatitis A virus infection and thus natural immunity. It is not recommended to assess vaccine induced immunity - refer to vaccine manufacturer's guidance for duration of immunity and timing of booster doses. Please note IgG assay can be affected by passively acquired antibody where blood products have been administered, or by maternally acquired antibodies in the first months of life.
