This is qualitative PCR assay used to detect DNA or RNA from viruses causing gastroenteritis. This test can identify infection with the common viral causes of gastroenteritis, including including Rotavirus, Norovirus, Astrovirus, Sapovirus and Adenovirus. It is used primarily in patients who are immunocompromised or in certain outbreak scenarios.
