Factor XII (also known as Hageman factor) is a non-vitamin K sensitive coagulation factor. Factor XII is activated by negatively charged surfaces. Deficiency of Factor XII does not cause a bleeding disorder. The PT is normal and the APTT is prolonged in Factor XII deficiency
