Clinical Background:
ANCA is a test for Wegener’s granulomatosis (WG) and microscopic polyarteritis and may appear as either perinuclear (P-ANCA) or cytoplasmic (C-ANCA).

Interpretation:
90% of patients with WG will be positive for C-ANCA. P-ANCA is less specific and can be found in several forms of vasculitis. Serial monitoring of ANCA may help in the prediction of relapses.
