IA2 antibodies are found in latent diabetes and in Type I diabetes in combination with other antibodies (islet cell antibodies, GAD-65 antibodies and insulin antibodies); may provide useful predictive information. The presence of 3-4 antibodies gives a risk of progression of 60-100% although this may be over a long time frame.
