Severe deficiency of ADAMTS13 activity leading TTP may be due to an acquired IgG Inhibitor of ADAMTS13.

The inhibitor may develop secondary to a clinical condition or therapy, or may be idiopathic....

The inhibitor may develop secondary to a clinical condition or therapy, or may be idiopathic.

The use of and ELISA ADAMTS13 IgG inhibitor assay may distinguish between congenital and acquired deficiencies. It may also be used to monitor the response to therapy for Acute TTP

Special Requirement:

Tube must be correctly filled to line, to ensure correct ratio of blood to anticoagulant, ensure adequate mixing.

Sample Stability:

2 citrated blood samples to arrive in the Blood Sciences laboratory at the RVI within 48 hrs of sample collection as centrifuged whole blood stored at room temperature.

2 citrated blood samples to arrive in the Blood Sciences laboratory at the RVI within 48 hrs of sample collection as centrifuged whole blood stored at room temperature.

OR

Double spun citrated plasma at 2000G and separate into 4 aliquots. Freeze immediately at < -70°C. and sent frozen on dry ice.

Note: We will not be able to test frozen samples which are defrosted on arrival
