The flow based method of platelet counting utilitises both CD61 and CD41 to identify and quantify platelets. This should be used when optical- or impedance-based platelet counting is unsuitable due to unusual platelet shape or size. This assay is not suitable for samples with platelet clumping. Please note, a red cell count is required from the referring site in order to calculate results.
