Factor VII (also known as Pro-convertin) is a vitamin K sensitive coagulation protein, that is synthesised in the liver. It's role in the Haemostatic process is to initiate coagulation in conjunction with tissue factor (TF). It has the shortest half like of the coagulation serine proteases. Deficiency of Factor VII results in a Haemophilia like bleeding syndrome. The PT is prolonged but the APTT is normal in cases of Factor VII deficiency
